Outside Good Morning America's Studio in Times Square, New York

We're here in New York City and just had an interview on Good Morning America -- hope you had a chance to see it! Now we're leaving the Big Apple for Westchester County Airport and Rye, N.Y. We plan to check out the former Putman estate where Amelia lived for many years, and which is near the place where she departed on her flight across America in 1928. Then, we're off to the airport for some last-minute checks of the Avro Avian. On Tuesday, Sept. 4, Carlene is going to fly the Avro around the area just for fun, as Amelia often did.

Bright and early on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 5, we're going to host an official departure from the Westair hangar at Westchester County Airport. In the background we'll be playing music from the 1920s, interspersed with actual recordings of excerpts from Earhart's speeches. It's a stirring experience to hear her voice.

Once we've departed Westchester, it's on to Bellefonte, Pa. where Amelia landed at an airmail field for a fuel stop. After the fuel stop, we're off to Pittsburgh, Pa. where we will arrive at the Allegheny County Airport just after one o'clock. There we will meet with our friends and the media at the main terminal building. We will spend our first night in Pittsburgh. The hotel where Amelia stayed is no longer there, so we'll be staying at another historic hotel.

Please check back with us here on a regular basis where we will be providing further updates and photos as we progress on this grand adventure!
